Home Abortions Allowed During The Coronavirus Outbreak

Women in England are now allowed to have home abortions because of the COVID-19 outbreak, the government of England has announced.

The policy of Abortion has changed several times because of this ongoing pandemic.

Girls and women wanting to end an early-stage pregnancy was earlier told that the service would be accessible but that choice was then retracted.

Now the government has said that women can take the abortion pills at home instead of visiting the clinic to prevent exposure to the Novel Coronavirus.

Charities were worried as women may get an abortion done at home but if they have any underlying health conditions would put themselves at a high risk as the procedure may turn out to be dangerous if not followed properly.

“Temporary basis”

The Department of Health in  England told News that ” Safety of public continued access to important services is our high priority during this difficult phase”.

“We are updating our services and guidance so that women who are opting for medical abortion up to eight weeks and are not able to access a clinic or emergency services can use the abortion pills easily at home”.

“These measures will be on a short-term basis and should attend an e-consultation or telephonic conversation with a doctor. It is said that the next steps will be set out for England.

“Health care is a devolved matter but that doesn’t devolve a human right not to be forced to have an unwanted pregnancy,” she told Newsbeat.
